What is Hydrotherapy?

Hydrotherapy is a therapeutic whole-body treatment that involves moving and exercising in warm water; essentially physiotherapy in a pool. The unique properties of warm water support the body and can improve movement of stiff or swollen joints, provide relaxation, strengthen weak muscles and alleviate aches and pains.

Our pool is super heated & poolside is tropical too. It measures 8m x 4m at a constant depth of 1.2m.

We have disabled access steps, AND A  HOIST, it is a Likorall overhead hoist.  We have a full body support sling and a tilting shower/commode chair.  You will need to bring a 2 carers with you to operate and support you in the water if you need to use the hoist.

We welcome people to come and visit us to see if accessibility to the pool itself is possible for you.  Kernow Hydro Staff cannot assist your entry and exit to the pool ( we can operate the hoist for you) but you are need to bring someone along to assist in the water.  The Hydrotherapy sessions are non-instructed and give you an opportunity to use our warm waters for your own exercise programme.

What types of Hydrotherapy do you offer?

Private £20 members £30 non members for 30 mins

Group (max 8 people) £10 – 60 mins

All hydrotherapy customers (existing and new) will be required to partake in a short hydrotherapy & hoist use induction (in and out of the pool).  If this is the case please email kernowhydro@gmail.com after you have made your booking and alert us so we can make sure we schedule it in.

Our hydrotherapy sessions do not include instruction on appropriate exercises or exercise plans, however we do have Hydro Circuits which will teach you a variety of exercises you can do with our hydrotherapy kit (you can also do your induction within this session). Alternatively you can bring an exercise programme from your own physiotherapist with you.

You are welcome to use our hydro equipment and the jets in these sessions.  All equipment that is used must be left in the blue mesh bags after your session.

Hydro Circuit Classes are great for all. If you are looking to rehabilitate after injury or illness or want to tone and condition then this is the class. Usually led by Caroline –  Monday 6:45pm, Wednesdays 8:30am & Friday 7:15pm.

Please also note we are also not able to advise on whether Hydrotherapy is suitable for particular medical conditions – please consult with a medical professional if you are unsure.  We do however have a questionnaire that is required to be filled in prior to the sessions.

When are sessions?

Our timetable varies throughout the year, click here for our current days and times.

How To book

All sessions must be booked in advance online, click here for details.

You will be required to complete a medical questionnaire, see link below, prior to using our pool along with attending a Hydro induction session.  Please email this to us before your first session. We strongly recommend you seek your doctors advice before commencing your exercise or rehabilitation programme.

The changing rooms, toilet facilities and site are fully accessible with a large car park and step free access to the building.

If you have a group with special needs who would like to access the pool at other times please contact us.

A session lasts 1 hour and you may need to gradually work up to staying in the water for the whole session.  Always take water to rehydrate and do not over do it.

Any questions please contact us at kernowhydro@gmail.com
